Cowlitz-Skamania Fire District #7 is a small rural Fire District. We are located in southwest Washington State, in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. Our district is on the north side of the Lewis River and its three heavily used recreational lakes. The lakes are each approximately 14 miles long. We are responsible for 54 square miles along the river, two of the lakes, and a small portion of the third. We respond as Mutual Aid on another 100 square miles with neighboring districts.

CSFD7 is currently accepting Letters of Interest and Resumes for the Full Time position of Fire Chief

The Chief is responsible to the Board of Fire Commissioners and the administration and efficient operation of the department.

Duties include:

-Fire Suppression

-Medical Response

-Implementing a training program

-Maintenance of all stations and equipment

-First Aid

-Cross training with Mutual Aid districts

-Keep and maintain records for all Calls, Inspections, and Maintenance.


-Annual salary ranging from $77,000 - $88,000 DOE

CSFD7's annual call volume is approximately 200 calls per year with roughly 25 volunteers comprising of Firefighters, Firefighter/EMT, EMT, and Paramedics.

Cowlitz Skamania Fire District 7 Commissioner Seat #2 Vacancy.
CSFD7 is currently accepting letters of interest for the position of Seat #2 on the Board of Fire Commissioners.  The Board of Fire Commissioners consists of three elected individuals and is responsible for governing the operations of the Fire District.  
Responsibilities of a Fire Commissioner:
1.    Attend meetings of the board.
2.    Understand the history of the district, the laws governing the operation of the district and your role in governing the district.
3.    Actively participate in the governance of the district by working with the board in open public meetings.
4.    Understand and comply with all ethics laws.
5.    Act as a representative of your district with a professional demeanor.
6.    Avoid any attempts to unilaterally direct staff members or micromanage the staff. The board runs the district through the    Chief, individual commissioners do not, and should not, attempt to run the district.
7.    Represent all constituents and avoid special interests.
8.    Maintain confidentiality of privileged or private district records and information.
To serve as a commissioner, you must be a registered voter residing within boundaries of the district.

Letters of interest must be received by January 5, 2024.  If necessary, interviews will take place on January 8, 2024.  The selected applicant will be appointed at the regular Board Meeting on January 9, 2024.  The newly appointed candidate can remain in this position until 2025 at which time he/she will need to run for reelection.
